This is the cake for all of it: a dark, dense, glossy ±2.1kg home-made brandy fruit-cake, baked in Fourways and delivered across Sandton.
The slice tells the story: jewel-red glacé cherries, plump raisins and chunks of walnut in a rich, moist crumb. It travels beautifully — wrapped, sealed, boxed — from our kitchen to Sandton boardrooms and dining tables. One recipe, one generous size, done properly, once a year.
What's inside the cake
Dried fruit, glacé cherries, walnuts, butter, eggs, flour, sugar, brandy, sherry, cinnamon and mixed spice. Boiled-fruit method for extra moistness, baked low and slow with brandy, finished with brandy over the top, then wrapped and matured 2–4 weeks. One recipe, one generous ±2.1kg size (22–23cm) — serves 20+ thin slices. Contains gluten, egg, dairy, nuts and alcohol.
